Dr Paul Chiam is a Cardiologist with a subspecialty interest in Interventional Cardiology. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He was previously Senior Consultant at the Department of Cardiology, National Heart Centre Singapore and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Singapore.

Dr Chiam was trained at the renowned Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute of New York, where he gained extensive experience specializing in complex coronary angioplasty, carotid artery stenting, peripheral artery angioplasty, and structural heart disease (heart valve) interventions. He further spent three months training in intracranial angioplasty and stenting at the Department of Endovascular Neurosurgery, University of Buffalo, State University of New York.

Dr Chiam is the first cardiologist in Asia to perform Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) in 2009, and led the TAVR program at the National Heart Centre Singapore. Dr Chiam serves as a consultant and proctor to help train new Asian centres to begin their TAVR programs.

Dr Chiam is also published extensively in top cardiovascular journals. In recognition of his research publications, he was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore.

He was previously Senior Consultant at the Department of Cardiology, National Heart Centre Singapore and was also Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Singapore.

His other academic appointments include Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC) and Member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Peripheral Vascular Disease Section Leadership Council.
